Ride Plans for 4/14 & 4/15

It's storm season in Oklahoma so there is a very real chance that these rides will not happen.  However, I prefer to take a more optimistic view of things, so let's assume we are going to get in some good riding this weekend.  We will be dealing with a strong South wind, so keep your pulls short.  If you don't feel like you can take a turn at the front, please stay on the back of the paceline or pull through and off the front.  (Do not pull out out of the middle of the paceline.)

Saturday's ride will depart from Tom's Bicycles (68th and Peoria) at 8 AM.  We will head South and then West to Kellyville.  From Kellyville we will travel North through Pratville and then come into town via Avery Drive.  We will take the West Bank Trail back to Tom's because we should have more shelter there from the South wind.  Total ride is 60 miles.

Sunday's ride departs Tom's at 8 AM or 1 PM (whichever time works best for you).  This ride has us visiting some of the usual towns (Kiefer, Mounds, Hectorville) but we will reach these destinations on some different roads.  This ride is also 60 miles long.

* Special thanks to Toby and Paul for providing the routes for this weekend's rides.

  1. wouldn't it make more sense to go the opposite way on Saturday? that way we're not slogging against the south wind for 20 miles straight and we wouldn't have to do another 7 miles of head wind on the trail going home.

  2. nevermind, that straight line going south got to my head.. its only 8 miles before you turn. but still, it would be nice to have a tail wind all the way home.

  3. Keith, I always consider wind direction when I map out the weekend rides. Honestly, I think this is a case of "6 one way and a half dozen" another. The only thing I can say about the final southbound leg is that we will be on the trail and we will not be in any hurry at that point in time.
